We’re excited to announce the release of Extendify API 1.1, which adds full page previews, screenshots, and the ability to redesign an existing website from its URL. Each one gives you a new way to promote website previews, in a purchase flow, a control panel, or an email.
Full page previews
The first version of the API returned the header and hero section of a website, which works well when you have limited space and want to get something in front of a user quickly. But if you have more space, for example in a control panel, you can now show the entire page and let users scroll through it.
Website screenshots
Some communication channels, like email campaigns, can’t display a live preview and need an image instead. For those cases, the API can now return screenshots of the website preview in different sizes, so you can pick the one that fits your placement.
Redesign an existing website
We often hear from our hosting partners that they have customers stuck with a very old website, or locked into a site builder that is no longer supported, and they want to move those customers to a more modern and open solution like WordPress. The redesign option makes that possible.
Pass a live website URL to Extendify API Redesign and it reads the existing website, then generates a completely new design from it. The goal is not to replicate the original website one-to-one, but to design something new and better for the user, using their existing website as the starting point.
Currently the redesign works best for brochure-style websites and coming next will be expanding this to larger sites with features like blogs and online stores.
Every preview becomes a real WordPress website
Whether you generate a hero preview, a full page preview, a screenshot, or a redesign, the API returns a unique website ID. Pass that ID as a URL Parameter to a WordPress installation running Extendify, and Extendify recreates the website the user just saw.

Use Cases
There are several uses where these new capabilities can make a difference:
- Control panel upsell: show a full page preview to domain-only customers when they sign in, so they can visualize a real website before buying hosting.
- Website migration offers: redesign a prospective customer’s existing website from its URL and invite them to move it to your WordPress hosting.
- Re-engagement campaigns: embed a screenshot of a website in an email to customers who only have a domain with you or have an old website.
